There was much wealth that he would take with him into this afterlife as well as weapons clothing art and all manner of things. It is obvious that one can not just leave that sort of stuff , including the mummified body laying around to be easily disturbed or robed so the were placed within secure safes that were also massive monuments commemorating the pharaoh contained within. This method Both pandered to the pharaohs feeling of importance and encouraged a largely uneducated population to stand in awe of these Gods.
