Upon arrival in country, for the first week or so, many GI's broke out in a "heat rash"; large "hives", raised red skin, sometimes 3 inches in diameter, on the forehead, neck especially, upper arms, thighs, etc. They went away after 2 or 3 days. But no one warned the men about that, so some were a little bit shaken up about it.

Are there any Vietnam veterans that are willing to be interviewed by email for a school project?

Probably; but how are you going to know that they will be real Viet Vets? Not long ago, there was a rash of fakes in America and some foreign countries. Wannabes from grunts to jet fighter pilots, all Vietnam War veterans...supposedly. Be sure of proper documentation (Proof) before "buying their stories."
