Why are the coast guard and navy personnel treated sub-par by army personnel over them by issusing them sub standard equipment such as firearms?
The Army does not issue weapons to either the Navy or Coast Guard. This is done through the Dept. of Defense. As far as the age of weapons issued, newer weapons go to units which are expected to have the most need for them. An infantry unit on the ground is going to have a much more pressing need for newer small arms than a Navy unit deployed at sea. Likewise, Navy SEALs will have equipment which will not be made available to line units, even at times when a line unit could find such equipment beneficial to have.
