condition of indian weavers was very bad. introduction to industrialization, indian weavers got unemployed or employed for only some time. machines made work very easy and minimize the need of human labour. now industrialist can get labour on low wages. indian weavers always accept to work on low wages because of lack of chances of getting another job. industries became a nightmare for indian weavers. introduction to the spinning jenny made it too hard for women weavers to get job. the indian women attacked sppining jenny. britishers started a monopoly trade in india and introduced indian weavers to gomasthas (paid servant). gomasthas supervised weavers collect supplies and examine the quality of cloth. it prevented company weavers from dealinf with any other dealer. the weavers were given loan to buy raw material and produce cloth. those who took loan found it difficult to payback and now cant deal with any other dealer. gomasthas beat weavers on late supply of cloth. many weavers deserted villages and migrated to other villages where the had some family relation. many weavers refused to loans and became unemployed. as Manchester came to india indian weavers faced two new problems by the 1860 export of cotton from india collapsed and cotton imported from Manchester were very cheap and indian weavers found it difficult to compete with them. indian weavers could not get supply of good raw material. hope this helped you.
