Rosa Parks' contribution to history came 90 years after slavery was abolished in the US by the 13th Amendment to the Constitution. It was in 1955 that Rosa refused to give her seat on the bus to a white person. Her simple act inspired the Montgomery bus boycott that led to the repeal of bus segregation and brought national attention to the denial of civil rights to black Americans. Her act was the beginning of eliminating all of the restrictions and segregation laws for black Americans on public transportation, in housing, in education, in hiring practices, in accommodation in eating establishments and hotels, and access to the polls for voting.

She got racial segrgation abolished (:

On December 1st 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a public bus to make room for a white passenger. At that time, black people were considered inferior to the white people even though slavery had long been abolished. Rosa's refusal to comply was reported to the police and she was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Her arrest sparked fury in the community amongst both black and white people and the bus boycott was announced. This boycott was continued until black people got the respect they deserved.

That one act of courage changed the lives of generations of people.

This is important because she inspired other ordinary people, both black and white, to question social injustice.

This is such a good answer :) thannks

The bus system in Birmingham Alabama required black passengers to move/stand to accommodate white passengers. Rosa Parks refused to do so (she had received training in non-violent resistance), which eventually led to a boycott of the bus system.
