Impact on the environment is equal to Population multiplied by Affluence multiplied by Technology. This formula is basically what we use to determine human carrying capacity, but don't get too excited since the figures for all of these factors always change it is impossible to tell human carrying capacity.
When we all stop affluence and technology is based on a cultural change we increase the planets carrying capacity. When we stop manufacturing children thinking that more kids are better we also ensure that their children can survive. When technology stops advancing to pollute and destroy for the result of money we lower that part of the equation as well.
