Before World War II, women were expected to get married, raise kids, and do "lady-like" jobs such as maids, nurses, or do clerical work. That basically all changed during World War II. The men were are war, so someone had to take over their jobs. They considered having children fill in, but society chose the women. During World War II, the women who worked in manufacturing or other factories, were called "Rosie the Riveter." When the men came back from war, they expected to get their jobs back, which they did, but women continued to stay in the workforce. Today, women can basically work for any job they want. As you can see, women made a huge difference during World War II.

Women had to do many jobs previously done almost exclusively by men, especially in armament production. Mothers had to assume the roles of their absent husbands. Without the efforts of many women, the war effort and the home-front successes would not have been possible.
In the Soviet Union, where the entire populace was needed to resist the German invasion, some women piloted warplanes to fight the enemy. By the end of the war, 12% of the "airmen" in the Soviet Air Force were women. Some men were not comfortable flying alongside women and refused to fly in squadrons with female pilots and crews.
Womens roles in WW2 varied between countries
U.S.A- Women usually served as Nurses and red cross members but that was only for services helping the military. IF the women did not go into those kinds of services they often preformed at CSO shows or simply stayed home and looked after children etc.
Germany- Germany also had nurses but they were few in numbers. The women mostly stayed home and held teaching jobs. For alot of younger German girls the Germans saw them as a way to breed their superior race wich they called the Aryans. Many young girls married S.S Soldiers, and many weren't the only wives the man would have. S.S soldiers would sometimes take up to five wives at a time and have more the twenty children. Most of the S.S children never grew up to know their parents because imidiatly after birth they became property of the S.S.
Russia-Many Russian women didn't just sta, or become nurses like in other countries. In Russia Wome were, and still are, allowed to join active military service as General infrantry, or pilots. Some women became nurse and doctors yes. But Stalin fermily belived in the fact that a bbullet from a women was just as affective as a bullet from a man.
Women's roles increased in industry.
