The biggest development was that the first laser guided bombs were used at the very end(after US forces had left), which would become the smart bombs of the late cold war. Modern light machine guns were developed into their current forms. The use of smaller than 7.62 mm ammunition was shown in the M16 (5.56mm) and the later developed AK-74 (5.45mm) as replacement calibers. The M16 Rifle replaced the wooden stocked M-14. The M-16 went through several variations including compact versions that became the current M-4. The M203 Rifle Mounted Grenade Launcher was developed from the M-79 grenade launcher. Helicopters were changed from being only designed for standard use into attack, cargo, troop, and rescue transport. Better radio technology that was more reliable. The first mass use of night vision equipment came in the form of the Starlight Scope. The first disposable light-weight anti tank rocket was developed in the M-72 LAW. The Soviet Union developed their famous RPG-7 during the war as well. The US used the M-16. M-60 MG, Helocopters, and of course grenades. Vietnam used AK-47, and Snipers.
