∙ 14y agoWhile it is not known for certain, the Vikings were likely looking for resources and trade when they discovered Canada. There is evidence that they actually traveled down the Mississippi River as far as present day Memphis, TN.

Vikings originated from Scandinavia, which is a region in Northern Europe. This includes present-day countries such as Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

The vikings came from Europe. They then explored to iceland and settled there. They were successful because they told everyone to go to Greenland which was actually ice and not to go to iceland because it's ice (it is really mostly green land). There are many modern day countries like Canada, Brazil, Italy and China.
