Probably Germanic, as a variant of Hofmann.

There are lots of variant spellings of names. Spelling was regarded as more or less optional until fairly recent times, so anything that looks like it might sound right could be used. Switching vowels, dropping (or adding) repeated consonants, or even in some cases changing the consonants themselves (D to T, for instance) are all pretty common.
