The northern part of Morocco was in the Roman empire. It was called Mauritania or Mauritania Tingitana. Remember though, the ancient borders for countries were in many cases not the same as present day borders even though the names may be the same or similar. Ancient Mauritania could quite possibly have covered a part of present day Algeria in addition to the northern part of the country we call Morocco.
