Lolita Fashion is a fashion subculture in Japan that is primarily influenced by Victorian children's clothing as well as costumes from the Rococo period. Lolita has made this into a unique fashion by adding gothic and original design elements to the look. From this, Lolita fashion has evolved into several different sub styles and has created a devoted subculture in Japan. The Lolita look consists primarily of a knee length skirt or dress, headdress, blouse, petticoat, knee high socks or stockings and rocking horse or high heel/platform shoes. Although the origin of Lolita fashion is unclear, it is likely the movement started in the late 1970s when famous labels including Pink House, Milk and Angelic Pretty began selling clothes that would be considered "Lolita" by today's standards. Shortly after that came Baby, The Stars Shine Bright, and Metamorphose temps de fille. In the 1990s, Lolita fashion became better recognised, with bands like Malice Mizer and other Visual Kei (or visual type) bands coming into popularity. These bands wore intricate costumes, which fans began adopting as their own style.[2] The style soon spread from its origins in the Kansai region, and ultimately reached Tokyo where it became popularized throughout Japanese youth culture. Today, Lolita fashion has grown so much in popularity that it can be found even in department stores in Japan. Today many young people wear the fashion all around the world.

How do you be a African American Lolita without getting teased?

Well, I can't really guarantee that you won't be picked on. If you like the fashion enough it shouldn't matter, right? I'm an African American lolita dresser myself. I love lolita and I do get teased sometimes when wearing different outfits. I just don't let them get to me. I'd rather wear something I love and get made fun of than be unhappy.

What is a Lolita?

i don't know really it was on icarly it might be real or not like those daka shoesIt is supposed to be a play on Apple's iPod. If you notice on the show, instead of apples on the computers there are pears.Ok, both my companions are wrong. Lolita is a term to describe a young girl you is sexually precious. Icarly, a child's show, should NOT have such content. If so, I am going t file a complaint, why would a kids show use such a term?A lolita is a seductive adolescent girl created by Vladimir Nabokov in the Novel Lolita about a precocious schoolgirl seduced by an older man. Lolita is used in Miley Cyrus 2010 song permanent December "I met a boy in every city, no one kept me amused but don't called me a LOLITA cause i don't let em though cause I'm savin all my love for someone and it's you"It is definitely a sexually precious young female, youtube Moi...Lolita by Alizée, that song started the Lolita generation in France, and worldwide. Not only is it a good, catchy song, but without any sex in the video, it gives a decent enough insight.EDIT by HawkTheBloodless: Apart from the Sexually precious girl term it is also a fashion coming form Japan. What these Lolitas strive for is Elegance and Modesty, despite the other meanings it has NOTHING to do with sex! I being a beginner Lolita myself know NO Lolitas that are out for Sex though I've heard of a term called Erotic Lolita.. you can probably guess what that means but I for one want nothing to do with it!DOUBLE EDIT The Lolita style is of Victorian and occasionally Rococoan origin, so when it comes to the Lolita fashion style, all forms are modest, though the EroLoli style is more 'daring', it is daring by Victorian standards, which would be bloomers showing, and wearing a corset without a blouse underneath, though never would any of it be revealing. The Lolita style is very popular in Japan, worn as a fashion style by many people, and is definitely not worn as a costume or to be confused with cosplaying. Many true Lolitas will be offended if you refer to them as cosplayers in any sort of way, though some people, usually Westerners, wear Lolita outfits at anime conventions or find their way to Lolita from branching out as a cosplayer... Like I did.

What is a ita lolita?

Literally means 'ouch lolita' - as in painful to look at. Often associated with cosplay lolita, itas are usually quite new to the fashion and may make mistakes such as cheap lace and materials (like satin), cat ears, leg warmers, etc. It can also do with the coordination of an outfit. If a person put on a green jsk with an orange blouse, they could also be called an Ita. Oh, and some people say that people with bad wigs are Itas.

Who designed Lolita?

Contrary to popular belief, Lolita fashion has no true founder or anyone who actually pioneered the look (for example: Maru Quant and the mini skirt...Mana of Malice Mizer did not invent lolita). Although it did exist during the 1970s, it was not called lolita then (it was more or less, "Babydoll fashion"). There were many lolita fashion designers back then (I won't name names since I can't find the actual designer, but Angelic Pretty, a fairly famous lolita store, has been around since 1979) and it was a time when lolita didn't look the way it does today.

Weight and height requirements for Lolita fashion?

Although this question was under modeling, there are no specific weight and height requirements for wearing lolita. I've seen many lolitas from 5 foot to 6 foot tall wear the clothing well. What really matters, aside of understanding the fashion (such as how to wear, what constitutes as lolita, and where to buy) is actual body measurements. When buying or customizing lolita clothing, keep in mind of the basic silhouette. Ex: Skirts sit at the waistline (natural waistline; smallest part of the torso; across the bellybutton) and should be around knee length.
