Them main Russian Weapon in ww2 was the PPSH-41. The PPSH-41 was a sub-machine gun that fired very very fast with deadly accuracy. By Husky Pratt
Some SKS rifles were brought back... most of them were manufactured in East Germany or China, as the Vietnamese made SKS rifles were and are extremely rare. They were either captured or sold/traded for favours to other soldiers in-country.
Going to depend on a few variables. If it is actually a Russian-made SKS, such as Tula Arsenal, and not a Chinese or other country's copy; if it has importer marks (such as CAI for Century Arms); if all the serial numbers match; and condition. Depending on these variables a true Russian SKS can bring $250-$450. sales@countrygunsmith.net

This is purely opinion on my part, but the SKS was created in Russia, and made there for a number of years before the Chinese began manufacture. The Russian SKS tends to have better quality machining than the Chinese. Both are good, but the Russian is the original, and the better built rifle. Examine one of each side-by-side, and see what you think.

Markings.
The RUSSIAN SKS may be date marked on top of the receiver cover (properly called the rear housing) , along with the symbol of the arsenal that made it.
It must have the importer's name and location.
SN and arsenal markings.
Value of ANY gun is based on exact make, model, and condition. A well worn Yugo SKS may be $150, while a pristine Russian SKS is $500. An average Chinese SKS is around $250-$275.
7.62x39mm, which is used in all SKS rifles (aside from the former Soviet Union, the SKS was also manufactured in China, Vietnam, North Korea, Albania, the former Yugoslavia, East Germany, and Romania).
