The Constitution came into effect only when ratified by nine states, so properly speaking there was no "second state to enter the Union" - the first nine all entered together. However, if the second state to ratify is regarded as the second to enter the Union, that was Pennsylvania, on December 12, 1787 The second state to enter after the original thirteen was Kentuicky in 1792 Final answer: Pennsylvania
While trudging through life, it's sometimes hard to remember to stop for a moment and really think about what we want to accomplish in this life, not to get ahead, but just for the fun of it. Pull out that bucket list and start writing these down.
White Water RaftingIf you really want to live life to the fullest and go on a dangerous adventure you can brag about, go white water rafting. The Colorado River is a great place to accomplish this goal, once you've conquered smaller, less treacherous waters. Never go alone, and always wear a life vest.
Rock ClimbingWant to be on top of the world? Go rock climbing. Just like rafting, start off small. Once you've gained some experience, head on to taller mountains. The Sierra Nevadas are spectacular and the Rockies compare to none. Remember to always wear your safety gear, and double check your harnesses.
SurfingSurfing can be a fun sport once you get the hang of it. You can find surf lessons in nearly every beach city in the country, so find a teacher you feel comfortable with. Get up on that board and ride the waves to shore. It is an exhilarating experience that makes you feel like you are dancing on air. Make sure you always swim with a buddy because the strong ocean can suck you out to sea.
CampingIf you've never gone camping, you have to try it at least once. Learn how to pitch a tent (it's really not that difficult), collect firewood and make a fire. Then try to keep the fire going. Go on long hikes through the wilderness. Cook Hot Dogs on a stick over the open flame, and for desert, enjoy roasted marshmallows and s'mores.
Go on a SafariThis may be a difficult one to check off the bucket list if you live far from Africa, but if you can ever afford it, this is an adventure you don't want to miss. You will see large animals in their natural habitat that you normally can only see in captivity. Sometimes, a lion will come right up to the car, or you can witness a species' mating ritual.
Remember to have fun in life. You'll feel a sense of accomplishment when you check those items off your bucket list.
