What is a modern instance of imperialism?

There are many examples of modern Imperialism. To start with, America having over 700 military bases around the world is one example. Other examples include the Iraqi, and Afgan invasion. Imperialism is also facilitated by causing chaos in certain parts of the world, such as supporting Israel to destabilise the middle east, making it easier for the west to extract oil from the region. Since countries like Britain, and France no longer take over and occupy foreign countries, what they do now is support regimes that will do their dirty work for them. For example, if a country like Venezuela who has a lot of oil is led by a left wing socialist, worker friendly regime, then what western countries will try to do is find right wing groups within the country and try to get them to over throw the democratically, popular government. They use methods such as coup de tats, death squads, and assasinations. This has not been successful in Venezuela, but has worked in many countries throughout the world, such as Indonesia, and Colombia. Once the capitalist Dictatorship is set in place, then the western corporations can go in and exploit the country for all that it's worth. One recent example of imperialism was shortly after the Haiti earthquake, when U.S. troops pretended to enter Haiti for disaster relief purposes, when in fact its true intentions was an imperialist occupation. Why Haiti you ask? Haiti is located directly in front of Venezuela, an oil rich country, making Haiti a very strategic point for an invasion of Venezuela.
