A carved figure depicting a semi-naked to fully garbed, negro of European royalty. The men figures are often depicted with a bejeweled turban the women with appropriate head adornments of that time ,and further adorned with jewels signifying royalty. Servants of the blackamoors were are often depicted signifying wealth as well as with serving devices, such as a golden pitcher or silver platters. There clothes would be exotic and often jewelled to demonstrate they represented the servants of the rich.

Such figure were largely created in Venice and exported throughout Europe, particularly the great EEnglish estate houses. Often beautifully carved, gilded and painted in polychromatic colours they were prestigious ornaments in the homes of wealthy Europeans.
