The Soviet system of government did NOT allow it prosper economically during the cold war. Communism is Security and Safety for it's citizens. Security & Safety does not produce capital. Capitalism produces money! Satety and security can be accomplished with money (capital) but not the other way around!

Nobody "won" the cold war. In fact, it's still going on today, the only difference is that the Soviet states split up, and now are different countries. However, they still commonly work together, and can be considered as one political body in some cases. So to answer your question, there was no outcome on either side.
