There were three Punic Wars between Carthage and Rome, and Carthage lost all three of them. In the first war, they lost their territory in Sicily. In the second war, the one in which they came closest to winning, they lost their territory in Spain, Gaul, and Africa. In the third war, Carthage was destroyed after most of the Carthaginians had starved to death in a three-year siege. The survivors were sold into slavery, and the city was destroyed.

When she finished paying her war indemnity, Carthage fought against the Numidians. Rome was worried about Carthage's renewed military power and anti-Roman agitations in Spain and Greece. Rome demanded Carthage to be demolished and rebuilt further inland as an excuse to declare war. Carthage refused. The Romans landed in Tunisia, besieged the city, breached its walls and burned it to the ground.
They had none - Rome had isolated Carthage.
Carthage was decisively defeated by Rome in the Third Punic War .
