The Labour party in Great Britain is a left of centre political party originally founded by trades unionists. The party first gained power fairly unsucessfully in 1924 but won a landslide election victory in 1945 and again in 1997.

The other main part is the Conservative Party. When they are in power there is a "Conservative Government", or because it is a nickname for their party a "Tory Government".
