Black Student Unions are very important clubs that have been recognized by many college communities. These clubs not only provide an identity for all black students who are enrolled at an institution, but allows the black student population to have a voice. Many students misunderstand what the club represents and argue over what these clubs should offer their student members. To sum up my beliefs a Black Student Union Club should provide:

Black Student Voice

A Source for Support

Networking Opportunities

A Place for Open Discussion & Sharing of Ideas

All members provide Support the development of New Programs and Services beneficial to "all" community members.

BSU does not exclude other races but serves as a recognized club that is supportive not only to blacks but others as well.

Lastly, provides non-black members a small lens of the issues, history, and cultural differences that can be learned through communication and social interactions with black members in the college community they may not see on the day to day basis.

BSU is by no means a place to tke advantage and reap all benefits only. Members must be active in order to feel its true benefit of their membership.
