I'd argue that if black feminism didn't exist there would still be womanism, and whether there was a term for black feminism/womanism or not black women would still be fighting for their rights as human beings. Feminism is overwhelmingly white-centered, however consider before the suffrage (white women fighting for white womens rights, and ignoring the rights of women of colour) black women were still fighting for their rights to exist and to their freedom - white feminism is a small island in a sea of history of women fighting for their rights to be treated as equals.
Alice Paul's strategy was to use violence for women's rights. Her supporters picketed the White House, blocked sidewalks, and went on hunger strikes if arrested.
All white men were allowed to vote.
The Abolitionist Movement was about equality for all people despite the color of their skin. Women's Suffrage was about women having equal rights & being granted the right to vote. Equality for all was the basic theme for both movements. While African-Americans & sympathic white people fought for racial equality, women & sympathic parties felt it the perfect time to add on gender equality.

um .. yes she did with out her women wouldn't of had a reason to start fighting for suffrage(the right to vote) they would have just taken it as it is. otherwise white men would be the only people that could vote and we all know that an exclusive group of people can't make a decision for everybody.
