It was part of the agreement that Britain should give up it's empire for the USA giving aid/coming into the war. There was also a policy after WW1 that America had secret plans for a war against Britain and it is thought that if the empire was weaker then GB would not be a threat.
Yes and no. The first British colony in Australia was created for two main purposes: to solve the problem of too many prisoners in England, and to create a British presence in the South Pacific to give the British Empire an advantage. Thus, the people who were sent there - the convicts - were expected to work to build the colony, but they were not classified as government workers by any means. On the other hand, they needed supervision, so the marines who guarded them and the officers who oversaw the operations were certainly appointed by the government.

David Livingstone contributed to the British Empire through his explorations in Africa and his efforts in promoting Christian missions and British trade. His discoveries of new territories and waterways expanded knowledge of Africa and helped pave the way for British colonization in the region. Livingstone's reports and writings also generated public interest in Africa, ultimately leading to increased British involvement on the continent.
whats so important about it is the man Nelson Mandela. He is important because he helped give Africans freedom from the British
