Not having to face a General Election in mid-war.
your mom was the problem
Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederate States of America, suffered from a number of illnesses throughout his life. He experienced recurring bouts of malaria, as well as respiratory issues and chronic bronchitis. Additionally, he suffered from various gastrointestinal problems, including dysentery, hemorrhoids, and digestive issues.
Based on the circumstances in 1861, it can be almost called a miracle, almost is important, that a new central government ruling the new Confederacy was built from scratch. The South had no central government, no army or navy to speak of and much of it had to do with the efforts of Jefferson Davis. Davis is sometime maligned as a leader, this is not true. His efforts to organize the South and help fight a Union army with almost unlimited resources to fight a major was a remarkable feat, to which much credit belongs to Jefferson Davis.
