Answer 1
No country has had a continuous war with Israel since 1948, but Most of the countries surrounding Israel do not recognize its existence and support its destruction.
Answer 2
While no country has been consistently at war with Israel since 1948 in the common understanding of the term (i.e. constantly exchanging fire and moving soldiers within an opponent's borders), there are several states that remain in de jure war with the State of Israel (i.e. they declared war on Israel and have not made a peace treaty with that country, only an armistice). Such nations include Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq.
This problem is not unique to the Arab-Israeli Conflict. Both of the Koreas remain in a de jure state of war since 1948, although no major battle has occurred since the armistice in 1953.
The modern country of Israel was formed in 1948 within the borders of what had been the historic region of Palestine. The term had existed for two thousand years, ever since the Romans named it Syria-Palaestina as punishment for the Jewish Revolts.
Answer 1Palestine.Answer 2No really good answer. Since Palestine had never previously been an Arab self-determining region prior to 1948, it seems unreasonable to claim that Israel was created from the country of Palestine. (This is as opposed to saying that the US State of Texas was created from the original country of Texas which was independent for a short period.) Israel was previously the British Mandate of Palestine which was previously a part of the Ottoman Empire, so the country that Israel would have been created from would either be the United Kingdom, the Ottoman Empire, or the League of Nations Trust (the organization that supervised Mandates).
Yes. It has been since 1948, is a member of the United Nations, and has full mutual diplomatic relations with all but about 35 of the other UN member nations.
Clinton's most famous successis the Camp David Accord between Israel and Egypt. Since its signing in 1978 not only have their been no wars between Egypt and Israel but Israel has not officially been at war with any other country.
Since Israel's modern inception in 1948, there have been a number of declared wars between Israel and surrounding countries, including at various times, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. There has never been a war between Palestine and Israel. The area now known as Israel was part of the area known as Palestine before 1948. Since 1948, there is no Palestinian army, navy, air force, marines, SEALs, National Guard, or other regular military organization. There is also no Palestinian language, currency, or capital city, and no Palestinian country. The Palestinian people are a loose agglomeration of mostly Arab, mostly Muslim, people without a country, kept suppressed, without economic, political, or social rights, in "refugee camps", for over 60 years, for the political purposes of their ethnic and religious 'brothers' in the countries that border Israel. These people don't have the resources to conduct war against Israel, but the countries that keep them oppressed have, and have fought at least three major wars with Israel since 1948. However, despite not having an army, Palestinians have directly engaged both Israeli civilians and soldiers in the Lebanese Civil War 1980-1982, both Intifadas (1987-1993, 2000-2005), and Operation Cast Lead (although admittedly that battle was terribly one-sided).
No. It was established in 1948 and there are countries that have been established since then.
It has been independent since May 14, 1948.
No. Under the Ottomans and the British it was not a free country. However, since the Declaration of Independence in 1948, Israel has been a free and democratic country.
The State of Israel was declared in 1948, although the country had been held as a British mandate since 1918. The borders have shifted regularly since.
That's a silly concept. Texas hasn't been an independent country since 1845, but Israel didn't become one until 1948. Texas and Israel have never had to worry about exchanging ambassadors.
