Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama bus in 1943. This led to a boycott of the buses in the city by African Americans.
Rosa Parks is known because she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white person. Rosa was black and blacks were required to give up their seat if a white person came aboard. Rosa refused to give it up and went to jail.
