The largest amphibious invasion of WWII was D-Day. Also known as Operation Overlord. It took place on June 6th, 1944. Might want to search it up.
On July 25, 1898, during the Spanish-American War, Puerto Rico was invaded by the United States with a landing at Guánica. As an outcome of the war, Spain ceded Puerto Rico, along with Cuba, the Philippines, and Guam to the U.S. under the Treaty of Paris
American and British mainly. By that time in the war there where armed forces from many nations involved to some degree. It was the largest battle American forces engaged in and the battle that resulted in the highest number of American casualties of the European war.

During World War II, the "D-Day" battle was fundamentally an "amphibious assault" battle. While aircraft, airborne troops, fifth-column sabotage, and naval forces were also involved, the primary nature of the contest involved infantry landing upon a beach and fighting to wrest control of both the beach and the immediately adjacent land-areas from dug-in defenders.
For most people, it is synonymous terms. However D-Day was used to designate an attack for any battle or amphibious landing.
Battle of Trenton. this involved the amphibious assault party led by General Washington himself.
The "Bulge" was the US Army's greatest battle during WW2; "Iwo Jima" was the greatest US Marine Corps battle in it's history. Nothing. One was an amphibious landing and other wasn't. One involved battles with heavy armored tanks and the other didn't. One was in winter and the other was on a sunny Pacific island. Okay, maybe both was a desperate last-stand fight by an enemy that was losing the war.
