This is mostly a matter of opinion, however, I would say it would have to be the B-17 Flying Fortress.
Another OpinionThe best heavy bomber was, in my opinion, the Avro Lancaster and, by far, the best light bomber was the de Havilland Mosquito.
This is difficult to answer, because the term 'main' bomber is a little vague. I don't know the exact number for each type of bomber used by Britain and the US, but can offer a personal opinion. The Lancaster was "...the monarch of night bombers in Europe" for Britain. The B-17, B-24, and B-29 were the three heavy bombers most in service for the US. The B-17 in Europe, the B-24 in the Pacific (long range) and B-29 (atomic bomber) were used where most needed. Hope this helps.

The Italian Campaign occurred during World War II and refers to various Allied missions that took place in and around Italy. The ultimate result was the collapse of fascist Italy.
Arthur Harris was in charge of Bomber Command.
During WWII, yes, Canada and Russia were both part of the Allied Forces.
The Avro Lancaster was the main heavy bomber of the RAF during WW2. They carried out literally thousands of missions.
Most powerful was the B29 Superfortress. For the axis powers, the Val dive bomber sank the most allied warships.

I have attached a link that has photographs of the Luftwaffe Airplanes of World War 2. They were a green/gray color but looked pretty dismal after many missions as did the bombers of the Allied Forces. Enjoy looking at the photos. You can also see them on militaryfactory com.
