The atom bomb was not in existence during World War One, also known as "The Great War".
The official reason for dropping the bombs were that the casualties in taking the Japanese mainland would be unacceptable. I believe that bomb was a show of strength from Truman to Stalin. Which Stalin pointedly ignored
Negotiations to end wars are usually desirable. WW2 was an exception. There were NO negotiations in that war.
