No not all slaves were treated the same some slaves reacived nice masters which would educate them like phyllis wheately she was a slave and reicived a nice master and became a foumurs poet. But if you got a mean master they would mistreat the slaves by wiping them with a wipe or burn or even killed. so they deisided so run away to try to escape to the under ground railrode.
