If your talking about that Tom Cruise race car film; Titles for books and movies (films) unless changed recently, cannot be copy-righted. Another words you can make a movie or write a book titled Rolling Thunder if you want to.

The actual story or movie would be protected though. Those would be called plagiarism, copy-right violations, patent violations.

The Vietnam War used alot a fancy terms, "Rolling Thunder" and "Thunder Runs" (driving a Patton tank down a dirt road and firing all guns at the same time), "Arc Light" (B52 bombing missions), "Rock N Roll" (M16 on full automatic)just to name a few. But you'll hear those very same terms mentioned in films, music, and literature. Service members over seas even like to use them.
