King Henry VIII, his son, Edward, and his daughter, Elizabeth I, forced people, against their wishes to attend their new Church of England. They confiscated monasteries, turning many hundreds of monks and nuns out in the road. The tried anyone who would not attend protestant services for treason. It was a horrible, bloody time in which many people lost their lives, many people were exiled, and many people lost their hope of salvation. Read The Stripping of the Altars by Duffy, listed below:
