No, women were not allowed to serve in politics. She did protest the final draft of the the U.S. Constitution in an essay of 1788 "Observations on the U.S. Constitution and on the Federal and State Conventions "udner the byline of " A Columbian Patriot, Sic Transit Gloria.," which argued for a Bill of Rights. Many of those "liberties" she outlined in that treatise were eventually incorporated into the Bill of Rights.
