The lowest estimate: 300,000 (Does not include wounded or POW) Average estimate: 600,000 The highest estimate: 1 million dead in the Winter War (1939-1940), 600,000 dead in the Continuation War (1941-1944); totaling up to 1,6 million (not confirmed, NOT including wounded or POW)
It is US Policy to pay POWS 'back pay' for their time in POW camps. If it didn't happen, you can generally blame the bureacratic nature of government. While its easy to have a policy sometimes its harder to adminster that policy. For instance, if a soldier is listed MIA, and dies in cativity, the natural process of the government might assume death, and pay the death benefit at the time the soldier was listed as MIA without ever really knowing the soldier WAS a POW. Then of course you have soldiers believed dead, who turn up living, now of course they want their back pay, but the government has already paid out a 'death benefit.'
Yes. I know for a fact that there was a WWII POW Camp in Blissfield, MI. Blissfield is located near the Ohio state line. The war camp was located on what is now Beamer Rd. I actually have pictures of the tents all set up in long rows. The pictures were taken by my Great Grandparents who owned farm land right across the street from the camp. Please post the photos please. ------------------------------------------- Another WWII POW camp was in Sparta, a small town north of Grand Rapids. My mom remembers her father (who was the local postman) getting permission for the German prisoners to pick apples for local orchard-owners. Several of the Germans who were kept there returned after the war to visit -- some even settled down in the area. It's currently a wastewater plant in this area, according to my mom. (I grew up there too, but the camp was long gone by the time I was born in 1958.) I just bought a photo on Ebay of the camp in tent form: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250857913642&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123

When approaching the end of the "pow" shake your wii remote up and down and it will still cause you to spin and lose your items but you will have blue underneath you and right after you are done spinning you wont have to re-accelerate. Also if you are in the air the "pow" does not affect you
