β 15y agoYes but not by much the 38th parallel was the line which divided the North which had been occupied by Soviet forces at the end of the second World War and the South occupied by US forces following an WWII agreement. They took over from occupying Japanese Forces. The countries were formed in 1948 and the border remained in place until 1950. After the war (1950-53) which involved large swings in occupied land both ways as various external forces entered the conflict (UN, China, USSR) the armistice was formed on the font line. The respective forces pulled back some 2km either side to create a DMZ (De Militarised Zone). The DMZ runs roughly along the 38th parallel but starts slightly south of it and runs north of it across the country. Kaesong was the only significant city to change starting off in the South and ending up in the North.

The 38th parallel was the boundary between the northern and southern halves of the Korean peninsula between World War 2 and the Korean War. After the Korean War the border between North Korea and South Korea did not change much and therefore is still sometimes referred to as the 38th parallel, though it is not along the actual 38th parallel north as it used to be.
Deviation = A full change from the Original (depending on what you're deviating from), while Variation = a change of small or fairly insignificant magnitude from the Original.

Borders often change after wars when winning armies hold new territory
Physical boundaries are natural features like mountains or rivers that separate regions, whereas political boundaries are man-made lines denoting the borders of countries or territories established by governments. Physical boundaries are determined by nature, while political boundaries are decided by human agreement and often subject to change.
