However, Nicholas did not appease the industrial workers. He felt strong enough to resist and crush the soviets having won over the Liberals and peasants. Headquarters of the St.Petersburg soviet were stormed and the ringleaders (such as Trotsky) were arrested. Nicholas also destroyed the Moscow soviet. The soviet buildings were burnt down by government troops.
