Catherine of Aragon, born 16th December 1485, was the first of King Henry VIII's six wives.
They married on 11th June 1509.
On 31 January 1510 she gave birth to an un-named daughter who was stillborn.
On 1 January 1511 she gave birth to a son, Henry, who was given the title Prince of Wales. He died 52 days old.
In November 1513, another son named Henry was born, and lived only a few hours. He was styled Duke of Cornwall at birth
A stillborn, un-named son was born on 8th January 1515
On 18th February 1516, the only child to survive infancy was born - she later became Queen Mary I of England.
Catherine's final pregnancy produced another un-named daughter on 10 November 1518 she died with in a week.
Catherine only had one child a daughter ,Mary Seymore on 30 August 1548, but Catherine died only six days later, on 5 September 1548, from what is thought to be puerperal fever or puerperal sepsis, also called childbed fever. Thomas Seymour was beheaded for treason less than a year later, and Mary was taken to live with Catherine Willoughby, Dowager Duchess of Suffolk, a close friend of Catherine's. After a year and a half, Mary's property was restored to her by an act of parliament, easing the burden of the infant's household on the Duchess. The last mention of Mary Seymour on record is on her second birthday, and although stories circulated that she eventually married and had children, most historians believe she died as a child.
Katherine Parr was the daughter of Sir Thomas Parr of Kendal and Maud Greene. She was the eldest of three children, her birthdate was probably in 1512, followed the next year by a brother William and then a year later by her sister Anne. Thomas and Maud were at court during the early years of Henry VIII's reign. Thomas was knighted at the king's coronation in 1509 and Maud was a lady-in-waiting to Henry's first queen, Katherine of Aragon. Thomas Parr died in 1517, and Katharine's mother dedicated herself to finding good marriages for her children.
