Audie Murphy returned home in early June 1945 and was officially discharged in September of that same year. His highest NCO rank was Staff Sergeant before a battlefield comission elevated him to the rank of 2nd lieutenant, and upon time of his discharge had been promoted to 1st lieutanant. He got in the army and was selected as the most decorated solider. Additionally, he acted in over 30 movies, like Gone with the Wind and Hell and Back. He once wrote songs as well. He died in 1970 in a plane accident on a business trip to Ronoke, Viriginia, which killed every one in the plane. Audie was awarded over 42 medals in the army.
