Yes it does. I am reading this book currently and i am about halfway finished with it. I write answers to questions here with close reference since there is not all that much provided from the diary that is in my opinion 'enough.' I write with close reference to it with accuracy so that I can keep the truth and aviod confusion.
One of the largest impacts Anne Frank's diary has had is that it has been a valuable teaching tool. Although it is only one of many diaries kept during the Holocaust, it has gained significant popularity because it was written by a teenager. Because of that, it has been widely used by history teachers to introduce the Holocaust to children. Children can relate to Anne's experiences before her deportation and can sympathize with her as she describes her sufferings and trials. And because children are able to relate to Anne Frank, they are able to put themselves in her shoes, thus making learning about history more personal and adherent. Today's children will be tomorrow's adults and, as the Holocaust should never be forgotten, Anne Frank's diary plays a significant part in influencing the future generations. (Obviously, as the diary was a secret during World War 2 and was first published in 1947 it didn't impact the Holocaust itself).

Yes, Anne Frank's original diary did not have a lock on it. She later received a diary with a lock as a gift.
