∙ 19y agoThe highest ranking Tuskegee Airman was Benjamin Oliver Davis ll, who transferred from the infantry to the Air Service as a captain in July 1941. He became Commandant of Cadets at Tuskegee, then later a pilot of the 99th Fighter Sqn. Later in 1943 he became the Squadron Commander. He left the squadron in September 1943 to become Commander of the first all black Fighter Group, the 332nd.
George bush was a US Navy pilot in 1943-44. He flew 58 missions in his TBM Avenger bomber over the Pacific.
