90% were farmers. Others were workers in ports, factories, printers, shop keepers, coopers, ship builders, and other jobs.

They already knew how to built shelter (houses), all they needed was food.
Since they didn't know how to work with the land they came to settle in.
Also back then it was a common thing to use the natives as slaves. No one really
saw it as a bad thing until future generations changed it*.
