He wanted their military to go towards them, because there was a city between the their army and Antony's, and if they didn't get their first Antony could persuade them to join forces with them, making them more powerful then his own army.
Brutus wanted to march on Phillipi, which would mean going on the offensive against Anthony and Octavian's armies. Cassius, on the other hand, saw merit in remaining in place, with the army, then allowing Anthony and Octavian's army to bring the battle to them.
