Effects of the explosions and radiation When the bomb exploded metal, stone and clay tiles melted by the extreme heat. As the heat wave struck, people disintegrated and their shadows were outlined on the streets. If the people looked at the explosions their eyes would be burned. People that survived the explosions had their hair fall out, severe burns, infertility, leukemia, cancer, birth defects, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cataracts, loss of blood cells
On both cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the combined destruction area was about 8 square miles with fires and radiation permeating for several miles beyond that. 115,000 estimated dead and another 85,000 with injuries and radiation poisoning.
Radiation and atomic fallout (radioactive dust/debris forming a cloud).
It destroys everthing, like it did to Hiroshima. A disease that if touched with human flesh, or living skin, can cause serious illness and kill you. :P
birth defects
They called the atomic bomb pandora's box because it had many negative effects on a lot of people.once opened, never closed. but that is true of all science/technology.
The use of the bomb was necessary. Japan was getting overconfident in their abilities after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. If Truman did not drop the atomic bomb, many more people would have been killed as a result of the ensuing battle. I do believe that the effects of the atomic bomb on human lives and the fallout mean that the atomic bomb should only ever be used in the most dire of circumstances to save more lives than it ends. Hope this helps, PAW

Radiation Poisoning
The devastation of the Atomic Bomb was known but never thought to be needed twice. There was little known knowledge of the effects of radiation.
He received reports and photographs of the effects of the Hiroshima bomb
