The vast majority of Australians are of Anglo/Celtic descent and many of us have distant (no pun intended), or not so distant relatives in the UK.
Australia has come to the aid of England in two World Wars, we have been great trading partners over the years and, apart from the odd cultural conflict, we seem to get along reasonably well and most Australians seem to be welcome in England.
Australians are always advertising for English people to move over to Austrlia to work and live there,Australian Military is currently here in England training with the English to head of to Afghanistan this Christmas time 2010, they both have great sporting rivalry, they share the same Queen, so yes i would say they get on pretty well.
There a re many Australians with an English background so you could say that on average the Australians get on fairly well with the English. Australians choose to keep the British Monarchy on as its titular head of state.
Yup!
The English and Asutralians get on realy well. they have many many years of sporting rivalry and throw alot of friendly banter between each other but its like a tradition and all in good fun. Plus England and Australia are good allies and share the same Queen, Ozzies are cooooollllll. =D
I personally cant stand the poms, we are not the same as them as much as they might like to think we are. Apparently we weren't desirable enough to live in our own countries 200 years ago so they shipped us off, including my 22 year great great great grandmother who they chained up on a boat for stealing, but now every pom and his dog comes here for a holiday and wants to stay. are we good enough for you now are we?
Sorry to hear about your great great great grandmother.
That's cool if you do not like us 'prisoners of millbank', but please do remember that my generation and many before me had no doing in the foundations to your country, nor did you or many of your previous generations have any direct action in the robbery of a land from the indigenous people who were judged as uncivil because they had no written language. Most English people 'back in the day' were having a bit of a rough deal this way as well, no votes, poverty and read about the horrendous workhouses and general exploitation of the masses during the factories of the industrial revolution. Back then people were so ignorant they had no idea that foreigners look the same as us, the people of Hartlepool hung a monkey for thinking it was a French naval office, true story!
We must remember the past but not allow it to cloud our present judgments, I do not see Germans as Nazis!
My experience with Australia is mostly positive, with my family members there in Brisbane to my London Aussie mates with their ancestral passports. Overall I agree with the first comments, most POMS and Aussies get on very well and share a few laughs and beers, we are more like family than many of the worlds nations.
Oh, also do not flatter yourself regarding the plethora of English people living your way; many of us actually do not want to live in Australia. I really like your nation and enjoy visiting but I would miss so much here, including the continent, that I would feel too isolated from the bustle of Europe. In short, not all English want to go your way, and those who do with the right skills, I say good on them, same with my Aussie mates who have made a home here!
Peace and love to all!
no because Russian people are stupid

Before Kokoda, Australians were treated badly. British thought themselves above these 'convicts.' So when Australians won the war at Kokoda, four words and several plarks and memorials were put in their honour. Mateship. Endurance. Fidelity. Honour. People looked up to Australians after that. Especially the Japanese. Considering the Japenese were actually trained and Australians were not. And the Japenese outnumbered the Aussies 10:1. The Aussies seemed like Gods to the Japanese.
Like any other westernised nation, Australians wear formal, semi-formal or smart casual clothes for special occasions.
hyorglifics are just like English writing or American we read English like Egyptian people read hiloglifics its just that Egyptian people from the past riding in hioglifics.
Well I am an Australian We are awesome nice people. I like Australians! How are australians NOT people?
Australians speak English because the first Europeans to settle the continent were the British.
females, teens, celebrities, Australians, Greeks, Hispanics, English
Australians overwhelmingly are from an English ancestry. As such, this group of people evolved to withstand the conditions found in the UK, which is often overcast.
Because the English people were and England were involved in that war.
Australians speak English so we just say.... street
Australians are people who live in Australia
Australians do not like deserts any more than other people do. Many Australians recognise the uniqueness of the Australian deserts, while others never give them a thought. the vast majority of Australians do not live in the desert, but on or near the coast, where the major cities are.
the people on fraser island are the same as any other australians.
it was proven that 75% of australians like the city better than the country
No, <1% of Australians speak Spanish. English is the dominant language in Australia.
