Cash crop is a crop that is grown and gathered for the market (for example vegetables, cotton or tobacco.) Cash crop is a crop which is grown for money.

Subsistence crops are those fed to the producers own livestock or grown as food for the producers family, with little or nothing left over to sell.

The subsistence crops were mainly grown for survival and not for trade or selling. This means that if you were growing subsistence crops you were doing it to survive and feed off of these crops. Subsistence crops were mainly grown in areas without rich soil, and agriculture wasn't popular.

Cash crops were grown for trading, selling, and also living off of. However the term cash crops is mainly referred to crops grown for money because the area that grew them were typically rich in agricultural benefits.
