Yes.. Roman trade was key to their economic development. They were frequent traders with their neighbors and all of Asia for that matter. That being said, their trade partners carried all sorts of diseases to Rome. Diseases such as Measels entered Rome and eventually lead to a 75 % decrease in its population. This decrease in population resulted in fewer jobs,and not enough soldiers to defend themselves from an attack.
