No. The US was a major part of the UN "police action" that primarily sought to repel the North Korean army that invaded South Korea in June, 1950. Under a UN resolution, troops from several countries were sent to fight. However, the advance of these troops into the North led to a second invasion, this time by communist China, in October, 1950. These forces were also repelled during five separate attacks through 1952. Neither the US or any UN member declared war on North Korea, which continued to depend on support from the Soviet Union and China.

The Korean War was a war between North and South Korea. South Korea begged for help from the United States. They came to their aid in the conflict. The US never declared war on Korea. Technically the war is still on. It never ended therefore we have troops on the border of North and South Korea.

Improved Answer: The Koran Conflict was a war yes. It was (is) between the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (the communist North) and the Republic of Korea (South). In 1953 the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed by the DPRK, People's Republic of China and the United Nations Command (CINC UNC was a USA LT General). The K.A.A did not end the war, it simply ended active military operations in the peninsula, even now a state of war exist between the DPRK and ROK. "Peace" if you will is kept due to the Demilitarised Zone at the 38th parallel. It should be noted from time to time there are skirmishes, incidents and incursions from the North across the DMZ, although the North disavows any repsonosibility and fails to acknowledge such.

Korea is not a country.

You mean either "North Korea" or "South Korea".

The US did not declare war on North Korea or South Korea. Rather, North Korea declared war on South Korea, starting the Korea War.

North Korea was backed by China and Russia, while South Korea was backed by the US (and UN).

South Korea has always been an US ally, and have been supporting the US in all their wars since the Korean War.
