Yes
Icarus was the son of Daedalus who built the labyrinth to keep the Minotaur in,
they were both prisoners of King Minos in Crete
They wanted to escape and go back to Greece, so Daedalus built them wings with wax and feathers, he told his son not to fly too high cause the wax may melt but the son didn't listen to this piece of advice, flew too high, the sun made the wax melt and the wings fell apart, the son fell in the sea and died.
Because no one had ever gotten out before and it had to take a 'genius' to figure it out.
He became famous because it is an ancient Greek legend. He was in a labyrinth and a boy went to kill him, but people would get lost in the labyrinth and would get eaten. This guy tied a spool of string to the door and held it, slowly unraveling it so he wouldn't get lost. He succeeded in killing the Minotaur and went home. How the minotaur became a minotaur is disgusting. So don't look it up. Ever. And i mean never ever ever ever.Search the story of the minotaur. It is a very interesting story. :)
According to the story of Theseus, Athens was required by Minos of Crete to send 7 young men and 7 young women to be a sacrifice for the Minotaur. It was during the third such event that Theseus slayed the Minotaur. So as few as 14 and as many as 21.
Popular Greek stories are basically Greek myths. For instance, the story of the minotaur.
Costumize the Minotaur.
Actually, it was Icarus' father, Daedalus, who was summoned to Crete to deal with the Minotaur. Icarus just came with him.
When I read the story in the springboard book at school it was called Icarus and Daedalus but i think its the same story anyways the setting was the island of Crete.
The problem in this story is that Daedelus and Icarus are trying to escape from a prison.
Ovid explains that the people on the coast watched Icarus fall, but the people ignore Icarus in the painting.
Theseus was from Athens. He fought the Minotaur in Crete.
Yes. Daedelus was the genius who created the Labyrinth for King Minos to keep the Minotaur in. When King Minos imprisoned him and his son Icarus after the completion of the maze Daedelus created wings of wax and feathers for he and Icarus to fly away. Icarus flew too close to the sun however, and melted the wax of his wings, falling to a watery grave in the ocean. Check out Jim Henson's Storytellr: Greek Myths. The entire story, and some other good ones are told there.

The point of view is for Daedalus and Icarus to escape. -Rosie
Minos (Greek: Μίνωας) was a king of Crete, son of Zeus and Europa. He ordered Daedalus and his son Icarus to build the Labyrinth where the Minotaur lived. (Minotaur= Mino-taur, is Greek for Bull of Minos).
Crete
That would probably be the moment when Icarus started flying closer to the sun.
