Generic or brand name, the drug is -- must legally be -- the same. What happens is the dosage, Regular and Extra Strength. Also the FDA has two drug ratings Class A and Class B, some manufacturers have stricter guidelines and use less fillers/additives. Legally the effectiveness and potency must be the same but typically Class A drugs are more easily absorbed and metabolized. It also depends on body chemistry, since everyone is different certain people do better with generic some better with name-brand, it depends on what works best for you. The generic vicodin made by Watson is rated class A, the generic by mallinckrpdt(M357) is class B. To find out what class a drug is ask your pharmacist.
