Shigellosis can last from a few days to several weeks, with an average of seven days.
Symptoms of shigellosis can last for weeks because the bacteria that causes the infection can be difficult for the body to completely eliminate. Shigella bacteria are known to invade the lining of the intestine, causing inflammation and damage that can take time to heal, resulting in prolonged symptoms. Additionally, complications such as reactive arthritis or post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome can contribute to the persistence of symptoms.
That depends on the exact disorder: some are quickly fatal in weeks to months, some can be dealt with by medication and are survivable, some take decades before any symptoms begin to appear, some cause cancers, etc.
Yes it can - and I speak from experience. One of the warnings with the medication I was on was - that for a short time when you first start taking the tablets, the symptoms can get worse before they get better. I was prescribed 40mg Citalopram daily - and I definitely felt MUCH worse for a couple of weeks when I first started taking them. Thankfully - my depression is in remission now - and I no longer need the medication.
Infusion therapy is an IV treatment, such as the medication Remicade. I have been on IV therapy for the last 6 months for ulcerative colitis. It is supposed to put UC patients into remission with only a few treatments. There are no side effects from this medication. Treatments are every 8 weeks after the initial few every couple of weeks. It is not a cure, just a medication to reduce symptoms. Best of luck to you!
Sounds like threadworms. Threadworms are common but are not usually serious. Threadworms infect the gut and lay eggs around your anus which causes itch. Treatment usually includes medication plus hygiene measures. Medication kills the worms, but not their eggs which can survive for two weeks. Therefore, you also need strict hygiene measures for two weeks after taking medication to prevent you from swallowing eggs which may cause a new infection. All household members should be treated at the same time, including those without symptoms.
Withdrawals of Prozac may start within eight hours of stopping the medication. Withdrawal symptoms may last for six to eight weeks.
You only have symptoms for a few weeks, not for the entire pregnancy.
IC may bring about these same symptoms that you have, and it is often helped by medication, but if the symptoms have only been present for a few days, then I think it is wise to continue the cipro, if the symptoms persist beyond 2-3 weeks after antibiotics, you should ask your doctor to treat you for IC
As with all medications, this varies from person to person. It is best to be weened of this medication and done under supervision of your doctor. Common withdrawal symptoms are headaches, mood changes, and light headedness just to name a few.
A trapped nerve in the back can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on the cause and severity of the compression. It is important to seek medical attention if symptoms persist or worsen. Physical therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes are common treatments for relieving pressure on the nerve.
