Fishmox is held to the same standards as human amoxicillin and is obtained from the same pharmaceutical companies as human amoxicillin. Bear in mind that ONLY information for the Fishmox brand name applies here; any off-brands may not be at the same standard. Fishmox capsules come in 250mg and 500mg; as far as dosing goes, humans are typically prescribed to take 500-875mg per day, depending on the severity of your symptoms. For strep, which amoxicillin is most commonly used for, 500mg per day is used for mild to moderate strep symptoms, whereas 875mg for severe symptoms, such as extremely inflamed tonsils that make it difficult to breathe. The person with strep should take the amount recommended for a full ten days to ensure that the bacteria is killed so it does not escalate to scarlet fever.
